Ok,
so I used to play the first one back in the day and it was the shit. I've been anticipating the new one for a long time now. Any of you guys have it yet? If so, do you like it?
I went and searched for reviews and its not looking good. Go on amazon for example. At this moment there are 366 reviews. 152 at 5 stars while 133 at 1. Now these are mostly hardcore starcraft fans too. That is a terrible rating average for this game. Basically the cons were:
No LAN
Have to be online just to play the game
Locked into regional play/can't play with people outside US unless u buy EU version.
No chat/chat room
Overpriced
Cant easily add and find your friends
RealID is getting people to use their real names and can be seen in game.
Can't name your online play games
Did I mention $60 for this?
So basically I keep hearing the CONS outweighing the pros. Granted patches are comming, I just may wait.
Any thoughts?

Ok, so I bought the game (Collectors edition) and can say that I recommend the game if you enojyed the first one.
Having to be online isn't any different than playing a steam game. The reason they did this was to cut down on piracy.
Real ID isn't an issue because I know everyone that is on the list. And they know my name already. So its no biggie there.
Honestly I don't want to play outside the region because the ones that I have had played with didn't understand a damn thing I was saying.
Chatrooms...why do we need them?
And finally, how is paying 60 bucks for this game any different than a console game? Yea, it might be a little more than usual, but honestly think of all the additions that will be made to it from people making their own maps and blizzard releasing other things.
Well, I think Im the only one who has bought it so far thats on this forum. Everyone else doesnt want to shell out the 60 bucks or is busy with other games
I'm playing through the original and expansion for a couple weeks waiting to see and hear the same things, VT. I'm mostly hesitant to get it because what drew me to play Starcraft over AoE I or II was the LAN aspect. Can't do that anymore.
I don't get the online thing either--the original was one of the most pirated games ever and a breeze to make copies of and still they sold 10 million copies 10 years ago. A dedicated pirate can totally still get a downloaded copy and mount it easily. The online thing just makes it a pain in the ass for the fans.
Twombly--the original came out 12 years ago. I would not say II came out on time.
And, Tomas is just afraid of playing some 12 year old in Korea and getting his ass kicked.
I haven't looked much into it yet however read this article to cap your frame-rates for the menu screens. Some people are having meltdown (shit you not) issues with their GPU's because the menu screen is running at retarded high fps.

Haha that is EXACTLY what came to mind also when I read that!
I wan't sure before, but it is confirmed that you can only play as terran in campaign. So you are getting 1/3 the game and im not thinking blizzard will just give you the others as a free DL if you own it. Get your teets lubed up cuz they are gunna milk em.

So how come people didn't complain when they released LOTR in 3 different movies? Blizzard admitted that if they tried to put all 3 campaigns together that they would have to cut back on the content of it. Personaly, I would rather have a better story line in the game. And they didn't let down on that part. The story is actually pretty awesome
fuck terran campaign.....all about the zerg baby.......sad that zerg air to fucking air still sucks nutz. With decent micro (which I heard is easier) I saw videos of a toss air move....shoot....move.....shoot without getting hit and owning 4 mutas.
As long as its not like a fucking teleconference sponsored by cisco type shit (briefings) like in sc1, I will be more interested in the story.....just got sick of reading all that text. I hope it is more like the warcraft one where its almost like a cut scene with units talking and moving around.
It is. In between each mission, youre on the Hyperion which is Jim Raynors ship. You can go from Armory, Labortory, Cantina and Brideg. Plus you can click on people and talk to them. And their heads move. No reading required.
i played the brood war competitively and started getting a lot better in october when i joined a team, i beat some really good players but then the starcraft 2 beta came out in february and brood war died

Daaamn....jim raynors got a ship...I remember the days when he used to fuck around in a vulture.....a true rags to bitches story.
I am upset that they are no longer making a game called ghost, it was suppose to be like a splinter cell type of deal (sneak around and shoot) based on the starcraft universe but somehow it got cancelled/delayed/put on hold/sidelined etc.
